Ok folks here is a new idea I had to try to help us get past some new content. I would like to have one night a week of raiding be dedicated to pure progression. There are many meanings to this so I will try to be as clear as possible. The rules/objectives of this night are the following (subject to change):
1) Toons for the raid will be picked prior to raid time. The process for which will be up to the class officers with input from the class members.
2) Regardless of requirments set forth by the above, ALL TOONS WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING: a. 2 Flasks for the night or 20 guardian and 20 battle elixirs b. Stat food c. Have a min of Kara gear or better d. Health and Mana pots for the night (recommend at least 20) f. Have read up on the fight to gain a good general knowledge of the fight. g. All toons will be PVE spec to help the raid and have class officer approval, no acceptions
3) All toons will be out front of the instance by 8:45pm for an on-time raid start of 9:00pm
4) So that DKP remains equal for all persons these raid nights will not earn DKP and will not count as the guilds new boss kill. However toons in the raid will have to spend DKP for all items taken.
This one night of raiding for progress is not a precursor to us going hardcore. It is to simply help us get over a hump that we are stuck on. This night will also be fast paced and require your full attention. AFK's for this night will not be tolerated and offenders will not be asked back. Over all this night will still be lead in the same fashion as always (FUN >progress) but we will expect a higher level of dedication from the toons going on this night.
For more information on this new idea please contact you Class officer. Also please know that if you don't qualify for the night it's not personal and it's not that we hate you. You will be given specific things to improve to make the list so it will ultimatly be up to you if you want to get in on the progress night.
Please see the Calender for the first progress night. Good luck and hope to see you all working toward a spot on the team.
As always I support your ideas, and this one is another good step in the right direction.
I think the further and further we get, the less forgiving that boss encounters get. I think everyone needs to realize this. It is only fair to the other 24 people in the raid that you bring your flasks/food/consumables with you and your toon is geared for the encounter the raid is going to face.
I know on the Leo fight, I feel uncomfortable because I'm not required to tank and my dps sucks which puts the raid at risk with the enrage timer.
Raiding in itself needs a certain level of dedication and just showing up it not good enough if you want to progress. You dont have to be "hardcore" to want to see new content and come prepared for sucess. Im a casual player but I come prepared with my A game for raids and we all need to if we want to raid and have it fun.
Fun imo means taking out bosses and working together to that end. Class balance is very imporant, along with gear, my gear is not the best but I do ok and I think we all can. Read up in the forums on your class and looking up the fights online and lets have some fun!
I read up a lot on my class and I think it helps. We all need to be at our best and we will be clearing SSC out in one night in no time.

First chance I get with some downtime, I'll be on the Armory looking over the Rogues and Priests to make sure they are the right spec and have the right gear for the tasks ahead. If you do not get picked to raid, don't get offended. Last thing we need is a core group of raiders that do everything and go on to greatness only to leave the rest of the guild behind. Been there, done that, and it completely sucked. Good luck to all that will show up for the raid progression night, I'm going to try my damnedest to be there, I wanna kill stuff too every now and then!

Good response so far. I like the enthusiasm! I want to make it clear again that we have always been a guild that took care of our own and we will continue to be. We will continue to go and kill the bosses on farm and all will be welcome for those raids. This New raid night will not kill any bosses on farm. This is going to be for new content and working out new bosses only. Keep up the good work everyone and keep smiling!
I apologize for leaving the guild but there was behavior I feelt was unfair to those who were putting in dedication to progressing the guild. Why should I come prepared with pots, repaired, oil, and food when no one else is. People coming to raids in PvP specs and PvP Rep Gear. People only wanting loot and not wanting to read up on boss fights. I am not blaming people individually but everyone for allowing this behavior to continue for so long and it's a slap in the face to the officers who take time off in RL so maybe everyone can see new things. I am very happy to see this new step Dead is taking and hope the best to you guys.
maybe ssc needs to take a backseat and the guild has to be sure that everyone is getting run through kara / gruuls mag for t4 and other very nice pve items. another thing that would be very helpful is farming heroics so people can obtain the new badge gear. i am still shocked that some people don't even know that gear exists or realizes how amazing the items are. even just 1 of those items improves your char IMMENSELY. i know i have worked my ass off to get the best gear possible for where i am at in the game and it is discouraging to see people in 5/5 glad gear in the raids.

Jazsmin,
I'm sure the officers will clear this up but Kara/Gruul contains very few or no upgrades for a lot of the longer serving members. I can see that being the reason behind having a progression night where the geared members can explore more difficult content...and allow undergeared members a larger chance to get in on the "farm" bosses.
I know every chance I get I will sit out on Kara Gruul Magtheridon and Lurker...because I dont need anything from those particular bosses and some other tanks do. I'll gladly run Kara to gear up mains...but I will not run alts or very undergeared players into there, I've tried that and it costs me more than I get out of it.
WOOT! I've only been here a short time and I say that this is overdue It is NOT fair to the members that are prepared when people are not. You guys rock! <3
Like I said we will still farm the bosses we can, Gruul/Mag/Lurker/Hydross every week for the near future. As for Kara I know that there are still some Guild based runs going every week. Kara is no longer on the schedule as the vast majority of toons have been running it weekly for almost a year so just for sanity sake it was time to make it optional. I know that the badges are great from there and it good and all, I just think we needed to take a leave from it for a while.
Jaz, we don't need to take a step back to gruuls and kara. The only reason that some aren't up to par is cause people getting to selfish and leave and then we have to start anew. It isn't fair to us to have to step back to get others geared up. That is why we have allowed peeps to go to kara when they want, with whom they want, and out of guild at that. We are gonna continue to farm the bosses we are killing and that will help gear peeps up. They just need to show up top these raids so they have a shot. We will get this under control and I think Dead's new proposal is great. Let's keep driving VEXED and we will Git R Done!
I think it's a wonderful idea. I know for me smashing my head against a wall named Leo 3 or 4 weeks in a row starts taking the fun out of the game. I love new content, new boss fights, and the good natured competition between the Dps. A special thanks to the healers and tanks of the guild for being there and being good I can't wait to see how fast the guild will progress with this new setup!
I think this is a great idea. ill be there if i can my work has been keeping me till 9-9:30 server time due to this im not getting home in time for raids when i do though i will try to show up on time and ready to raid . BTW im no longer trap master respecing to complete MM
I'm 3 weeks new to the guild, so this change won't effect me as much as others (i.e. it's all new to me, so change is easy to roll with at the moment). I'd just like to say that it is being communicated very clearly and expectations are being set before action is taken. Props to the leadership.
I'm hopeful of making the progression nights, but won't kick and scream if I'm passed over. If you need a tank for a progression event, sweet. If you don't, dailies ftw!
More people would find the change easier if they would remember the most important part about playing WOW at night... Their beverage selection. Cap'n and Coke > all. Argggh!
I support the change.
Do we have enough guildies to support 2 seperate raids on the progression nights? The primary raid would of course be for the 25-man progression, but those not making the cut could help gear up guildies in Kara or by farming heroic badges? Maybe even view it as "team building", or something to that effect.
I think the greatest challenge we are facing right now is experience. The boss fights are starting to require everyone to play an important role in the fight. If one person messes up, it usually results in a wipe. So every time we go against a new boss with players who have never done it, there is going to be a heavy learning curve. If we put together a progression group, I知 sure they値l be downing new bosses in no time, because it値l be the same people going all the time. But when we go back to pick up the rest of the guild, we値l run into the learning curve again. If we don稚 want to leave people in the guild behind, we値l need to get them experience. There is a quality to quantity. Increasing the number of raids would increase our experience. That痴 what helped us get beyond Kara. But the best thing I think we can do right now is improve the quality of our raids. Two things I feel we can improve on, is starting on time and reducing the amount of time between wipes. If we can improve this, we値l get more shots on a boss. Thus get more experience without having to increase the number of raids. Another thing that worries me about the progression group, is getting the group together at all. Right now we have a hard time putting together a normal raid group. I can foresee many of the progression raid nights being canceled. Time wasted that might have been better used for a normal raid. But if we can get the progression group working, it would help us develop a overall strategy for the fight, thus making it easier to teach others.
